The Tides is owner run and operated and is situated at Ushongo Bay in Pangani on the coast of Tanzania. The Tides provides a relaxing retreat which is simple but luxurious making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. If you fancy catching your own dinner, why not try your sea legs with a little reef or deep sea fishing ? The Tides is world famous for it's sports fishing in the Pemba Channel and holds the odd record or two !
ACCOMMODATION
The hotel accommodation boasts bright, spacious and stylish interiors. All the cottages have modern en suite bathrooms. Each cottage has its own private sunbathing area

The restaurant and bar are right on the beach. You can enjoy excellent cuisine and fabulous views of the Indian ocean. Freshly caught seafood is one of our specialities. Alternatives are available for those who are vegetarian or do not eat seafood.
Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
We serve a selection of lunches and delicious afternoon tea. In the evening you can order a cocktail at sunset. The bar overlooks the ocean so you can relax and watch the waters shimmer as the light fades.
There is a set three course dinner or you can choose from our specialty menu.

Room service is available all day. Complimentary early morning tea and coffee is served in your room on request.
Dress Code in Tanzania
At The Tides we ask that you respect the people’s religion and culture. In Tanzania there is a Muslim and a Christian population. Topless bathing is therefore inappropriate in public places.

ACTIVITIES
Snorkelling to Maziwe Island Marine Reserve:
Maziwe is a sand bank situated 6 miles offshore surrounded by abundant coral and marine life. Trips can only take place at low tide. Guests have the opportunity to snorkel in shallow water if not experienced. All equipment is provided.
Fishing:
Typical catches include Trevelly, Grouper, Kingfish, Barracuda, Tuna and Sailfish, depending on the season. We can either fish inshore off one of the numerous reefs or go further out for the bigger game fish.
Half Day (4 hours) or Full Day (8 hours) (maximum four people) extra hours charged per hour. Please note lost lures will be charged for.
Historical Walking Tour to Pangani:
A guided tour of Pangani visiting many buildings of historical significance, of which there are many. The guide tells you about the long and fascinating history of Pangani from ancient times, to Portuguese settler; Arab Slave and Ivory Traders to the Colonial history during the German and British rule. Includes guide and transfer to and from Pangani. Takes about 2-3 hrs including travelling to and from Pangani.
Village Walk through Ushongo:
Guided village walk through Ushongo, a typical Swahili fishing village. One of our waiters will escort you and explain all about life in the village. Free of Charge (voluntary donations to the village development fund are welcomed instead)
Sun-downer Dhow Sailing:
Take a traditional Dhow for a sunset cruise. Departs at 4 pm returns at 6pm as the sun goes down.
Scuba Diving:
There are two independent Dive operations along the beach
Other Activities:
kayaks and boogie boards for hire, bicycles charged per day. There are miles of deserted beaches to walk on (Free!!)
