PEMBA ISLAND LIVEABOARD DIVING

Lo-entropy

Pemba Island to the north of Zanzibar has long been renowned for its fascinating, varied and stunning diving. Spectacular underwater sights, stunning blue-water drop-offs, awe-inspiring hard and soft coral gardens, magnificent scenery, a sparkling clear blue sea - everything combines to ensure the diving holiday of a lifetime, in what is arguably the best location in the Indian Ocean. The one drawback of land based diving has always been the distance one has to travel to reach the premium sites, which is why, in its day, the S.Y.jambo was such a successful liveaboard, even though two full days were often ‘wasted” on the cruise from and back to Shimoni on the Kenyan Coast. Lo Entropy overcomes this drawback by being based in Mkoani, Pemba’s main port, terminus of the ferry from Zanzibar ( when it is operating!)and only 30 minutes away from Pemba Airport. This means that in a seven day six night cruise a stunning total of 18 scheduled dives are possible,  including locations such as Misali Island, Uvinge Gap, Fundu Gap, Njao Gap and  Manta Reef

Lo Entropy is a 23 metre ketch which has recently been re-fitted to operate in the tropical waters off the east coast of Africa. Lo Entropy carries a furling genoa, yankee, mainsail, mizzen sail and spinnaker and a 200 horsepower Caterpillar engine that provides the power to manoeuvre close in to shore.  She also has a spare set of sails for extreme storm conditions. With a dagger board style retractable keel that draws only 1.5 metres when retracted ,we can go into coral shallows.  explore coastal settlements, enjoy inaccessible sandbanks or pull in to exotic locations where normal keelboats cannot anchor. When extended to its full 4 metres the keel gives excellent performance to windward. Accommodation on board is simple but stylish, with 5  well-ventilated, wood-panelled twin berth cabins, all with fans, reading lights & running hot & cold showers and toilets.

So,if you are in the mood to discover steep walls, gentle slopes, nudibranchs, mantas, hammerheads and sugar white beaches spot dolphins ,snorkel,  swim & fish in the warm Indian Ocean come join us !  The price for the 7 day/6 night cruise ranges from USD 1800.00 to 2400.00 depending on season and includes all meals and soft drinks plus 18 dives with tanks and weights. Full scuba equipment hire is available at USD 150.00 per person for the full cruise
