DAY ONE
You will be collected from your Nairobi Hotel by your Driver/Guide and depart on Safari. Drive through the vibrant city of Nairobi, climbing northwards towards Nyeri. Passing through a fertile and hilly mosaic of small farms and coffee plantations, arriving at the your lodge in time for lunch. This dramatic wooden lodge, built deep within the forested lower slopes of Mount Kenya has comfortable lounge areas in full view of a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which allow guests to view visiting animals at any time of night: - rhino, lion, elephant and buffalo are regular visitors. Optional guided forest walks are also available.

DAY TWO
Today we head Northwards towards the highlands. The terrain makes a dramatic descent from the lush central highlands to the low semi-arid plains of Kenya's Northern Frontier District. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge in the Samburu Game Reserve. This afternoon enjoy a game drive to view unusual species rarely seen outside of this region: Grevy's zebra with distinctive narrow stripes, reticulated giraffe with its geometric pattern, shy, long-necked gerenuk which stands on hind legs to feed on the tender leaves of the high branches, and the blue-necked Somali ostrich, among many other varieties.

DAY THREE
Set out on morning and afternoon game drives to observe Samburu’s unusual wildlife. The Ewaso Nyiro River provides an oasis from the equatorial sun in this harsh spectacular land of rocky soil and scrubland. Bird enthusiasts will be rewarded with a wealth of species attracted to the palm tree-lined waters of the river. Photographers will appreciate the dramatic backdrop of Ololokwe Mountain. Watch for leopards lounging high on tree limbs. Between game drives relax in the beautiful surroundings of the lodge.

DAY FOUR
Today, we travel through serene farmlands with a visit to Thompson's Falls. Then we descend into the Great Rift Valley to one of the world's most important bird sanctuaries. Lake Nakuru itself boasts the most spectacular of all of Africa's bird sights--enormous flocks of pastel pink flamingos, as well as other bird species. Here we have wonderful opportunities for colour photography as masses of pink bodies glide above the reflection of blue water. Arrive in time for Lunch is at the lodge. Our afternoon game drive takes us through the lush green park that surrounds the lake. Many species including reedbuck, bushbuck, wart hog, baboon, leopard and the Rothschild giraffe call this home. It has also been designated a rhino sanctuary.

DAY FIVE
Depart Lake Nakuru driving via Narok (Kenya’s major administrative centre) to one of the stellar events of our safari - the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya's most precious wildlife sanctuary. This is big game country and long famed as the location of one of Africa's greatest concentrations of game. Plains game are found here in staggering numbers, which in turn supports a tremendous predator population. During our afternoon game drive, we will have opportunities to see herds of impala, wildebeest, giraffe, elephant , topi, buffalo, wart hog, ostrich, as well as lion, cheetah, hyena, and possibly the elusive leopard.

DAY SIX
Today’s schedule includes pre-breakfast and late afternoon game drives. Travelling across the savannah, we will rendezvous with the Mara residents--herds of buffalo, wildebeest, hartebeest, impala, and gazelle. The Masai Mara is the northern-most extremity of the great Serengeti ecosystem. Here dense thorn bushes reveal browsing black rhino, and near the riverain woodland, large numbers of giraffe and elephants are to be seen. Hippos cavort, en masse, in the Mara River. Boasting Kenya's largest predator population, the reserve is renowned for lion prides up to 20 strong.

DAY SEVEN
Another full day in the Masai Mara with pre-breakfast and late afternoon game drives.

DAY EIGHT
Enjoy breakfast before driving back via The Great Rift Valley to arrive in Nairobi at approximately 13h00. Drop off at your Nairobi Hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for onward / return flight.
